Who are you? Tell us a bit about yourself!
My name is Leslie Hammons and I live in Minneapolis, MN. I own an art gallery that specializes in photography. When I'm not at the gallery, I keep too busy with friends, art things, travel, seeing music, eating and cooking, and thinking about eating and cooking.
What determines your style? Where do you find inspiration?
I'm a firm believer in form following function. I've learned from experience that if it's not comfortable, I won't reach for it. I've been trying to strike a balance between my gallery clothes that tend to be more precious and my outside the gallery clothes that are more utilitarian. Westward expansion chic :)
I find inspiration everywhere! TV (Euphoria!) and film, strangers and friends alike, small boutiques. I'm especially liking the recent moonscape ceramics of Raina J. Lee. I love that a-ha moment when something really resonates.
Who is someone’s style you emulate?
This makes me think of the Lawrence Weiner quote that used to be on the outside of the Walker Art Center - "Bits & pieces put together to present the semblance of a whole." My style is probably a little bit of everyone I've ever drawn inspiration from.
What designers are you loving these days?
AVN, Mr. Larkin, Boboutic, Bsides, I'm slowly introducing more color and will always love a dramatic (and often shapeless) shape. I think Aparna Nancherla summed it up best in one of her stand ups, "I generally prefer weather that you can wear enough layers where people are like, 'Does she have a physical form at all? Maybe she's more of a concept.'"

What is your favorite Noihsaf score?
My tops are probably a patent Dries Van Noten bag and Yasutoshi Ezumi coat.
Picture this: You are leaving for a week long vacation to an island off the coast of Italy. During this vacation you are having dinner with a well known painter in an obscure restaurant that you can only get to by hot air balloon. It’s summer, but the air is dry and cold at night. When you land, you need to take a casual but long walk (1.2 miles) to the restaurant. A magic suitcase falls from the sky. Inside is your ideal outfit for this situation.
I love this question! How about this Cecilie Bahnsen dress and sandal situation?
What is playing on the stereo as you dress yourself?
Ted Lucas, Dustin O'Halloran, and Julia Jacklin.
THANK YOU, LESLIE!!!
