Who are you? Tell us a bit about yourself!

My name is Katie Chapman (@snapchaps) and I live in Victor, ID with my boyfriend and our two dogs, Todd (corgi) and Yuri (border collie mix). I’m the Business Manager at Outpost Property Management in Jackson Hole, WY. When I’m not at work, you can find me trail running, mountain biking, backcountry skiing, baking, drinking wine with friends and day dreaming up outfits. Getting dressed and dressing my friends has become my creative outlet living in a community that is mostly focused around outdoor activities.

Katie is wearing a brown snowsuit and in ankle deep snow powder. She is holding ski polls and looking down at one of her dogs. Another dog peeks its head out of her backpack.

What determines your style? Where do you find inspiration?

The weather. Living in a town where it feels as if winter is 9 months out of the year, I have to dress appropriately. My go-to pieces are statement coats, boots and all the beanies. When we get that short glimpse of summer, it’s jorts, house dresses and sun hats! I tend to buy pieces that I know I can easily wash, because I want to be able to wear them out with friends or camping. Since I spend most of my time outdoors, my style has trickled down into my gear as well - currently it’s monochrome everything please.

I’ve always gravitated towards loud colorful pieces, but I’m currently trying to curate more of a neutral palette (still with a pop of color). Recently I’ve been finding inspiration from 1940’s women’s workwear, prairiecore, whatever show I'm currently binging (Leti from Lovecraft Country at the moment is mood) and playing with monochromatic palettes.

Who is someone’s style you emulate?

Zoe Kravitz, Diane Keaton, Caroline Maguire and Julie O’Rourke. While each one of their styles are different, each one always looks comfortable and confident in whatever it is that she is wearing. Part of the fun of fashion is not being constrained to one "style". I enjoy wearing a chunky knit and loose jeans as much as I love to wear tie-dye and acid wash.

What designers are loving these days?

Dôen, Rudy Jude, Isabel Marant, Rachel Comey, Jesse Kamm and Xirena. I’ve come to realize that evolving my style into something more neutral isn’t necessarily about wearing less color. It's actually about realizing which brands fit my body and my lifestyle and all the above do.

What is your favorite Noihsaf score?

I scored a pair of tan Beatrice Valenzuela Slides and wore them nonstop all summer. Naturally I’m searching for a colorful pair now. I’m a size 8 ;)

{{SCENARIO}} Picture this: The 2020 Summer Olympics, by some miracle, is still on. Simone Biles drops out of the floor routine unexpectedly, and you, being the extremely skilled gymnast that you are, take her place. In these Olympics, clothing regulations are thrown out the window. You forgo the leotard; what outfit are you wearing, and what song are you playing for your floor routine?

My floor length, long sleeve, sequin Rachel Comey dress. It’s my most coveted piece of clothing in my closet. I feel fit, beautiful and confident as soon as I slip it on. As a bonus it’s quite comfortable! Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” blasts as I make my debut. Once I was done, I’d slip right into my tie-dye Aviator Nation sweatsuit.
