Noihsaf Newsletter – June 2024

PATS SELF ON BACK

"It's Laura Regensdorf and Emily Singer with that one chick!"

Once upon a time in a Portland hotel lobby, I shared my idea of building Noihsaf its own platform with a nice man named Caleb. Caleb was in the world of brand building and strategy, and a mutual friend had connected us. In the end, Caleb was the one who introduced me to our developer (hi Cody!), but the one thing that stayed with me that afternoon was his mention of a Substack called Chips + Dip. “If you can get on Emily’s radar, you know Noihsaf is getting out in the world,” he said. Having never heard of Substack, I went back to my hotel room and immediately subscribed.

Before Feed Me and Big Salad, there was Chips + Dip—a thoughtful Substack covering branding, e-commerce, and tech. Just what I needed back in 2019. Caleb’s words had turned into a goal: MUST RESONATE WITH EMILY SINGER.

I have goals like most business owners, but many are these weird, quirky marks that aren’t recorded in my business plan. Some are completely normal, like being in the New York Times, for instance. Others are random, mostly ego-driven, pats self on back. Jonah Hill once followed Noihsaf Home (before his infamous IG exit), and I would fantasize about him outfitting his home with Noihsaf treasures. This never happened, but I did DM with Maggie Rogers once while lying in bed with zit cream on my face. It was a true “zoom out / what is life (!?)” moment.

Fast forward to last month in New York, where I hosted a little happy hour and invited a handful of my favorite writers, including (drum roll….) Emily Singer. It’s a wink from the universe to keep trucking down this rugged path of entrepreneurship. The evening, full of engaging conversations and creative ideas, left me invigorated and more determined than ever. Surrounded by such talent, I was reminded of the importance of community and support in my journey. It reaffirmed my passion and commitment, showing that moments of connection and inspiration are invaluable.

My week in New York was filled with a few of these moments which I will be recapping with you soon! Since I missed last month’s newsletter, you're gonna get two this month! Wild times ya’ll!

Thanks for being here,

xxKate

🌊 I took a liking to the aquatic plant caltrop, which I discovered is the Japanese word hishi, a word that also means "a diamond or lozenge shape, a rhombus." Mitsubishi takes its name and logo from the water caltrop. This all came from Googling "what is a caltrop" after finding this necklace.

♥️ With namesake brands like Mara Hoffman and Rachel Pally closing, the conversation around growing a "sustainable" business in today’s climate has hit home with many. This interview with Eckhaus Latta and Elizabeth Suzann’s video has resonated with me the most. I have a lot to say on this matter and will be talking more about this topic!

🕺 I have been a big follower of Angela Timbur Dance on the grid for awhile now, but had no idea her website was full of endless imagery and videos of her work. Her “Dirty Dance Camp” is happening again this September and on my bucket list!
